Digi Cam Purchasing Tips
Thought a thread like this could be useful. Please feel free to add on to this.
Pay attention to optical zoom vs digital zoom. Many cameras will say they have 30x zoom for example. In truth they have 10x optical and 3x digital. In most if not all cases digital zoom is next to worthless, it leads to grainy pictures. In most cases 10x optical is pretty nice.
Mega pixels - higher is better, it denotes the size of your picture in pixels.
Look into options such as rechargable batteries or lithium ion battery packs, options like these may cost $30 up front but save you hundreds in teh long run.
Always buy a good size flash card, if you can atleast 50 pics at your highest setting on one card.
Many digi cams have dapters to fit other lenses.
Check reviews, www.cnet.com can be good for this and in the future as they review more cams www.anandtech.com is an excelent review site.
That's it off of the top of my head.

I noticed this article a couple days/day after writing this post. This article is a good read and does a much better job explaining things than I can.
