I wanted rocks for my tank. Kind of goes with the Mbuna thing I have had the tank for close to 8 years and it has gone thourgh a series of changes from its humble beginnings

and then I discovered making clay pots

then I read about people using sand instead of gravel

I then tossed the pots and went with lace rocks

Then I decided I like the "marint tank" kin of lights and went for 50/50 and the end result is this

eventually, I will change to darker sand but for now I am happy with how it turned out. I have always preferred black backgrounds because the focus should be on what's IN the tank not what's ON the glass

Thanks except for the sand looking dirty all the time I love it. That's why I would change to brown

This is my 55 with river rock and pool filter sand. I just added some more rock this weekend and the fish more fish will be in there soon. Just a Jewel and a catfish for now. I'm thinking of flpping the background aroud to the black side and seeing how I like it.
