Default started a planted apisto tank

so winters around the corner i figured i needed something to keep me busy through the nights so about two months ago i started a 90 gallon planted apisto tank. of course never having had one i had no idea of the amount of work involved with keeping plants.(or should i say keeping plants alive)but ive spent a couple hours each night reading everything i could find on the subject of keeping plants and so far so good. so ive settled on an all male apisto tank with some groups of tetra. thought i would share some pics of tank and fish.Click image for larger version.

Beautiful! I love rams - haven't kept any in many years though. That's a mesmerizing little aquatic jungle you've got going there I love how the plants and the wood work together to create a very natural looking setting.

Looks very nice. I only have one tank with live plants and just stuck with Java fern and Anubias in mine because I figured I'd need CO2 injection if I went with most of the other plant species, are you using any sort of CO2 on yours? Looks like they are really healthy.

yea steve im using co2 and a ista mix max co2 reactor ran by a maxi-jet 1200 along with ei dosing dry ferts and flourish. i bought a plant pkg off of aquabid from a guy in florida i got 25 diffent plants mostly moderate light plants had a small die off the first month but about two weeks ago i started the ei dosing and everything greened right up. i spent almost three months reading for a couple hours each night on everything online about planted tanks.once i figured out how to balance the tank everythings been alot smoother.after reading all the beginner horror storys i wasnt sure if i wanted to try but ive never been one to shy away from a challenge.i think mostly i was looking for an excuse to get back into apistos theyve always been my favorites.
