Default green terror \ spotted mangrove hybrids

Hello, ive not been on the forum long but do have ten years experience keeping a multitude of aquatics, breeding and aqua scaping, it's so rewarding.

I've have a rather big green terror "Trevor " he's been on his own for four years and lay week i went into my local maidenhead store and they had a cichlid which info card just said tilapia, she was in with 2 red devils and a rather large unnamed cichlid all of which did not want to mess with her, she was 5 and had been returned four times. She's half the size of Trevor but from the stories of her adventures i desided to get her for a tank mate for Trevor, a week on they have been getting on great and last night they spawned, I'm really excited as can't find any thing on line on hybrids of them. Does anyone know our have heard of these hybrids? Do any of you think they are fertile eggs, I will post a picture up of the clutch. Wish me luck

Very unlikely that the eggs would hatch, but I have heard of Tilapia mariae spawning with New World cichlids before. There were never any reports of viable fry.

Those eggs are definitely from the T. mariae, they are typically that color when laid and opaque. Only question is if the GT did his job, and whether or not it makes a difference!
