Heres an update on my 3d background. So far i got a blue led.light in the pyramid and today i installed a red led bubbler to light up the calendar! I also installed two dual head 1600gph wavermakers on each side of the tank. This week ill.be throwing in cichlid sand which i already bought and start filling it up with water! Heres the pics of the updates:

That looks sweet brother I like it. Funny thing is...I never like the non-natural stuff like that. But, in all honesty...I do like that, that looks sweet man nice job!

Thanks Steve cant wait to finally put fish in it. Im not happy with the lighting though that came with this tank. Its to bright and hides the blue led on the pyramid and the red led on the calendar. Im looking to get some dimmable led lights. I need something soft so that it still lights up the thank but with out it hinderioutng the colors i.need to stand out. Any suggestions?

Really? you don't like the red? I actually think that's one of the cooler ;pics. Can you post a few more pics? maybe from a few more feet away?

Yes the red and blue led lights lighting up the calendar and the pyramid are awesome! Its the white light coming from above the tank that sucks! Lol when i turn the white light on i could hardly see the red and blue led lights in the tank. I need yo invest in a dimable led light or soft light i can use on top of the tank.

Can't wait to see the sand storm, in a 48 inch tank, even on a wave maker, 1600 gph powerheads are gonna blow sand everywhere, be very careful how you place them, and you might get lucky. Trust me, been there back in my reef tank days where flow is king, that's too much flow, JMHO

@ parrothead what you know about sandstorms annihilating the mayans back in the day? Lol i got them cheap on ebay. Wgat to do? There dualhead wavemakers and i have them one facing straight across the tank while one faces down towards the sand on one side next to the background and tge other side same setup but placed it next to the front glass so they create a clockwise circulationall over the tank. Any suggestions on a better setup? Should i not face them down towards the sand?

Best bet would be to go ahead as planned and when you are ready to fire them up see what happens with the one pointing towards the sand bed, you will more than likely have to adjust it somewhat to keep it from blowing sand all over, that's a lot of flow in a short distance, I've got a 750 gph return pump on my sump, which means at the tank I'm probably pushing 500 gph(also in a 75 gallon) and I had to play with the returns direction to keep from moving the sand around, always something fun to play with in this hobby

Tank update - so i dropped the eco-complete cichlid sand with the live bacteria to help cycle the tank. Very cloudy at the moment but im not sold on the color of the sand. To my understanding, the ecocomplete cichlid sand is suppose to be white/black but what i put in looks yellowish/black. Not sure if its the dust but take a look for yourself. My wife says to just add more black sand but if this is indeed yellow im seriously planning on removing it. Your thoughts are welcomed!
