Default Wife made a mistake, opinions pls

Hey guys, when i got home from work i was informed by my wife she had bought a new fish for my already full 90 gal which consist of a red severum about 5 inches and two 2 inch firemouth and pictus catfish.I was not going to add anymore fish to this set up as i believe it to be a full capacity. She went to the lfs and fell in love with a 3 inch regualar jack dempsey. In your opinion how long will we have before the jack starts to dominate the severum in aggression.Only good part to this is i have another exuse for a new tank down the road lol.

Newfie, the Jack probably won't do anything with the Severum. All fish aare different, but I have kept them together long term in the past without any issue at all. But of course wifey doesn't need to know that. ;-)

Well I agree, just keep an eye on the jack and see, every one is different and since they are semi small it might work out.

Newfie You have plenty of room for the JD and from my experience the severum should be fine. As always keep an eye on them. Good luck with your tank and keep us posted.

Well since we dont like tanks with to much of a possible combat situation,we decided to take the dempsey and both foremouths back to the lfs.We already have one tank with a rotkeil severum and a firemouth anyway. We decided to try something different with this red severum,so we picked up 10 green tiger barbs,so far we have the barbs, severum, pictus catfish in the tank.Thinking of adding a rainbow shark and a large opaline gouramais and call it stocked and should provide a nice viewing setup as well.@ baytherman, thats how i got to have a few tanks in the first place but she is learning to fast lol.

not sure if you mentioned how many you have but the pictus cat like to be in groups and are more active with more of their own kind around.

i agree...i had a jd pair in with africans till they were 5" and no problems. I only moved them cuz i was growing them out in there. They could have easily ate those fish and i was surprised. Ive seen other jd that were not as "controlled". Like peeps said each one is different just watch them
