    haha, no that was an old Nikon D50 with (I believe) a relatively cheap AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D 1.8 lens. And thanks.

    Many recommend a minimum 75g 4 footer for a colony, though some experienced cichlid keepers pull it off in a 55g. I like a 6 footer (which is what I have these in, a 125g) - the extra territory lets you keep a larger colony, with more room to run, which helps. That, plus going with captive bred juvies rather than wild-caught imports, made what many (at the time) considered a challenging species to keep a relative breeze for me. They're a disaster made to happen if you do 'em wrong, but actually pretty easy and hardy if you do 'em right.

    Sounds like Mbuna in a lot of ways.
