Check aquabid.com, or I have seen them at my area LFS, have even seen them at Petsmart a couple of times.
I understand your boyfriends sadness. Chocs are very personable, they're like smaller, greenish oscars.

if you live in NY on long island theres aquarium adventure that has a bunch. Im sure the other aquarium adventures have em across the States which ever their in.Hope this helps. Good Luck

My LFS had them a few weeks before the holidays (now they aint got squat). So they're out there, I'd ask your LFS if they could get or plan to get more anytime soon.
