Default My 220g Malawi tank. Feedback please.

    Hello all,
I am new to these forums but not to fish keeping. I have had Africans in the past and figured it was due time to jump back into the lake, Malawi that is. I currently have my 220 set up as a mbuna tank and would like to know what you all think. I like to play with lighting to get the desired appeal.
    Thanks to all.

    Brian,

I think you did a great job and you put alot of hard work into making something look terrific!! Well done!! Like anything else all change is inevitable and this will change and develop as you get inputs from others and/or make your own personal discoveries along the way. You're off to a great start my friend, congrats looks amazing!!

    Thanks,
Im glad to be back into freshawater after doing reef for so many years. I just want to enjoy some fish. I am looking forward to changes and learning new aspects of the hobby that I am not too familiar with. Thanks again for the welcome.

I is a standard all glass 220 6'X24"X30". The rock is called english cobblestone and I get it from a landscape shop here in town. It is a nice shade of grey. I tried to carry over some of my reef aquascaping techniques here and I think it worked. The only inhabitants are a couple of red zebras, a fusco and my big moorii. I have decided to go haps only so the zebras will have to go. For lighting I have a 4' shop light mounted in the canopy with 1 powerglo and 1 marineglo actintic. I run my favorite filter an FX5. As for substrate I used pool filter sand ( a hair coarser that play sand). Too bad there isn't a saltwater picture thread. I would show you guys some pics of my 5' green moray. Anyway thanks guys and I look forward to learnong alot from these forums.

Wish I could get a good pic of my tank. Stupid clutter in the garage.

Im not really sure of his age. I picked him up at a LFS. Someone had traded him in. The moorii is my favorite african cichlid there is. I used to have a large breeding colony years ago before I started reefkeeping. He is 11" long and is by far the largest one I have ever seen.
