I expect that very shortly I'll be living under mandatory water rationing and conservation. I'm wondering what the water change protocal should be under these conditions in order to maintain my fish?

Last year when this happened to me, I called the water co. and told them. I did religious water changes every eleven days instead of every seven. I also reused the water taken from cleaning the tanks and watered the flowers/plants with it. There was no problem at all with the water co.
Just one more fish...I sware it's the last one!
Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.
you could also get some chemipure which removes nitrates.
one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish...omigod!! a whole lotta fish!!(mbuna tank)

I went through this last summer...I reduced feeding and did water changes every 2-3 weeks. I used nitrate absorbers when needed. I got the water for the changes by putting buckets in the shower to catch the water that got wasted while waiting for the water to get hot. I would save up all this water, heat it up, and use it for the water changes.
Good suggestions. I'll have to see what I can do.
