    Default Cyprichromis

I have six Cyprichromis leptosoma “Blue Flash” in a 55 gallon 4ft tank and was wondering what I should add. Right now they are only about a 1". Could I add other Cyprichromis? I don’t want any hybridization! Also how other Cyprichromis keepers have in their tanks. I have some holy rock with crashed coral. Also some broken flower pots but lots of swimming space. Let me see pictures of your set-ups and I will try to get some of mine and post them.

You could do some Julies or Shellies. The cyps will be nice for the open water mid sections of the tank and either of these would cover the bottom nicely. You might even be able to do a pair of comps, but they might eat the cyps at that size if they are very large.

I'd add 5-6 more of the Cyp's, they do better in larger groups.
Some shellies and transcriptus would also mix well with them in a 55.

I certainly agree that Cyps do better in larger groups...however we need to keep in mind the tank size here is still pretty small for this species.

My breeding group of Cyps in my 55 currently consists of 1 male and 3 females....I had another male, however he was literally "driven out" of the tank by the other male and I found him as "fish jerky" in a bucket next to the tank. While I'd like to have a few more females in the tank, I'm not sure that a 55 can support more than one breeding male's territory.

Cyprichromis sp. will certainly hybridize, so only one species per tank is the rule with them.
I should use this space to promote the photo contest...but I can't think of anything clever...
