I finally had one of those flyfishing days that you dream about, or you see others having.
I hit the Provo river about 10:30am and it was nonstop action till about 4:00pm I lost count after 20, Browns, Bows, and Cutts.
    Wow what a great day!

I was using a midge pattern off the bottom in the morning(zebra midge). at noon the BWO's started to hatch and the hatch lasted 4 hours so I went to a dry during the hatch.
I don't know how many I missed Finz cause I couldn't see my fly (#20 bwo) the water was boiling with trout taking drys.

I am jealous Boilermaker. A good day flyfishing, you can't beat it. A good day on dry flys in the middle of a hatch is the best thing that could happen to a day.

I am a streamer fisherman, but man do I love dry flys

Gotta love those days. Flyfishing/tying was my life for many yrs when I was younger, that is all I used to do. There is a river near where I used to live where I would spend 12hrs a day on when I was younger, was possible to catch bout 40 fish in a day at times, all brookies and rainbows. They would go crazy over a "wardens worry" pattern. I would swich back and forth throughout the day between dry's and streamers/nymphs. Great hobby.

I am very jealous, not just of Boilermaker, but of all of you who get to do quality flyfishing. I love to flyfish, but my flyfishing thus far has consisted of catching bass and bluegills in lakes. It's a lot of fun, but I long for a day like you described. Unfortunately, trout don't do to well in my part of Texas. It's a little too hot here.

I cut my flyfishing/flytying teeth on bluegills. I still like to fish for them too. There is a great deal to be said in favor of dry fly fishing a trout stream though.

Now that I look back on it it was an incredible day.

Normally there's No good flywater left getting there at 10:30, BYU and UTAH is on spring break, 90% of the fishing on most days is nymphs, and the trout are so particular cause they've seen everything, and your lucky if the hatch lasts an hour, and I am an average flyfisherman.

I won't see a day like that one in a long time to come,
ever since the movie " A River Ruined It" the good flywater in this state has been pounded with the exception of the smaller mountain streams.
Well I guess thats what memories are made of.
