Default Ill A. Jacobfreibergi Rueben red

I recently fed my tank some frozen plankton. ever since then my Aulonocara has been reclusive and hanging about the bottom, eats a bit, but not with the usual gusto. Could he have some bacterial infection from that? If so what do you recommend. Tank parameters are perfect.

He is an albino and my favorite.

    Thak you,

    Matt

As long as he is still eating, he is most likely fine. Does he have any stringy clear feces?

Becareful not to overfeed on meaty foods, this applies to Haps and Aulonocara as well.

why do you say this? haps are primarily meat-eaters...their diet should consist mainly of protein.(aulonocara are haps[haplochromines]) :?

did you thaw out the plankton before feeding it to your fish? maybe he got a bellyache from a frozen chunk of food.

I believe my first post ever on the internet, I was having the same problem. I wasn't thawing the frozen out before hand and the frozen I had was in little cubes, since then I have gone back to the slimline packages that I cut open and wave back and forth in the tank and I keep the feedings to once a month.

Defrosted it in water, and then pressed it in a coffee filter.

The problem was he was being supressed by a large Lethrinops intermedius.

Moved the Leth and all is well.

Thanks for the feedback. I over reacted a bit.

I was also under the impression that Aulonocara like other Haps had a high protein diet. Oh and by the way can anyone recommend a spirulina flake that does not crumble to bits?, or should I go with the pellets?

Because I have had and seen Haps with bloat from overfeeding on such foods. Maybe I should have made OVERFEED bold text?

And yes, I know Aulonocara are Haplochromines ;)
