    hey i need help i just got some new electric yellows but there realli small i'd say an 1in to 1 1/2 in. i was wondering why they cant eat they go for the food but when they get in on there lips the like spit it back out.... the food i got for them is african cichild attack! its by hbh they are small sinking pellets... if this isnt the rite food for them can u suggest me what is?

    I'd try an African flake like Omega One African Flakes. Mine go nuts for it and you can crush it a little to make them easier to eat.

    They might take the pellets if you didn't feed them for a couple of days so they'll be really hungry. That'll fix most fussy eaters.

    if you just got them, they might still be a little freaked because of the move... and you might be feeding them something different from what they're used to at the LFS... like jonah said, give 'em a few days to settle in. but the flake might be a good idea as well - easier for them to deal with.

    ..yes, they spit it out because it's an unfamiliar taste...try what the others have suggested

    Spitting is par for the course. Especially new fish. I thought it was really weird but I persisted on what they ate, and eventually I asked the right questions only to get the same answer. They'll do that. Flake food for small cichlids is the way to go, as they get bigger then go to the sinking stuff. IMO that is the best way to go.

    ditto what everyone else has said... they'll eventually get hungry and stop being picky
