One of my mbunas was a victim of the infamous mbuna group assassination. I put him in my qt tank and most of his tail fin was gone. He seemed to be doing ok in the qt tank considering the circumstances. Now his whole tail fin rotted off (I guess this is due to most of the fin missing and the fish shedding the rest of his dead fin?). Anyways today he has been upside down and not able to control how he swims. He kind of bounces around endlessly. I am dosing him with Melafix, but I am worried. Should I put him out of his misery? Here is a vid

Is there such a lighting system that is programmalbe and that would gradually increase the level of light and then gradually decrease, and have some moon lights? Also is there a light that would not increase or promote algee growth? How much should I expect to spend on a good lighting system for a fish tank?

Hello everyone :) I am a cichlid enthusiast, but I don't know everything about every cichlid. I am more familiar with African cichlids from the rift lakes, and I have a 100 gallon and a 40 gallon dedicated to them. However, Kribensis were the very first cichlids I've ever owned and bred, so I know their behaviors.

I recently set up a 37 gallon tank with live plants and rocks, and I bought a pair of albino Kribensis. I almost bought a pair of L. curviceps, but ended up choosing what I was more familiar with. My question is: will a pair of L. curviceps be compatible with a pair of P. pulcher in a 30x12x24 37 gallon tank?

Before, I get "give em a bigger tank" as an answer, please know that I have no more room for a bigger tank, nor an extra tank. As a result, this should hopefully be a question that is not too complicated to answer. Yes, no or maybe? Please explain your answer a bit. All replies relevant to the topic welcome :)

Thank you.

-Kyle

This guy was in an "large assorted tank" and I was actually thinking it was a female bc he was just kind of drab and not fighting with anyone else. I got him home and WOW. He's a beautiful M. callainos. I have two smaller females and man, did I luck out getting this guy to be a daddy! My pictures aren't the best but I believe they show off his gorgeous color for sure.

He's full sized, about 5-6"

Here he is on the left and one of the females on the right

And the other female, they aren't this bright normally, usually a darker blue

Any body near Bay Point, CA with a big pond, keep in mind they get about 3-4 ft long and weighing about 100 lbs, already an adult I'm not sure what size he will actually get. PM me, I would like to trade him, but also don't want him to die from organ failure from being so stunted.

Well I thought I had an all male tank but my 2 1/2 inch yellow lab is holding. Call up Maurry! Who's the daddy? Waiting for her to spit them out and ima take her back to the shop. I don't feel like breaking out the qt tank and having it on my kitchen counter for a month. Pretty mama can stay right where she is. I have a syno eruptus and a juliochromis transcriptus(?), so I am hoping that they eat the fry. If any survive I will eventually exterminate them unless they are really cool looking (you never know). I am kind of surprised though, no one is bothering the female. I have been playing with the stock list for about 2 years and finally got a good calm mix (for now). I kind of don't want to get rid of the female lab because she works in there well, but I don't want to have a whole bunch of fry in there either...........what to do?:xmas4:
