Just wondering if my JD is male or female. I never have been able to sex JD's very well.
Was leaning towards female myself. What is the best way to tell?

and another:
I had a female and they do not colour up very well also the entire bottom half of the gill plates are a light blue colour. Males tend to have spots on the gill plates like yours and the entire body has spangles.
Your fish is a male and is nicely colouring up!

I agree, I'm also pretty confident in calling him a male. :) They're so pretty when they grow up!

he might be a sub dominant fish in the tank and that is why he has spangles but no coloring in the gray areas. looks male to me too
