Why do you ask this question?

Yeah, why do you want to know the meanest cichlid that can be kept in a 75g? Do you plan on keeping it alone and want one that is very interesting and interactive?
Anyway, Any of the Amphilophus would be my choices. That would include Midas, Red Devils, Trimacs, and Red Terrors. There are some really aggressive pike cichlids too.

Yeah thats true. In that case I would choose a Midas. Although Trimacs are really nice if you would rather have a green fish. Go to
www.jef-b.com/cichlids and www.cichlidscene.com for really good pictures of several adult Midas cichlids.

if u would like some more advice on really nasty cihlids go with the jaguar, buttakoferi or red devil.red devils with mixtures of midas are tough as well.
i wolud go with the managuense. They are the meanest fish i ever kept. Mine killed 2 convicts a little smaller than him, 2 red devils one was twice his size, 2 texas about the same size and 1 buttikoferi of the same size. That is my opinion. They also get really nice looking.

i have a red devil about 10 inches long which has given me 3 stitches on one occasion and 4 on another but he is the most vicous devil ive ever seen he attacks the glass as soon as you walk in the room.
a red devil is my opinion

I did have a labiatum that drew blood on me as well. But I had trimacs and festae that were raised up with siblings that ende up killing each other. Red devils weren't as hostile towards conspecifics until they spawned-in my experience.

LOL if you want the baddest cichlid that can Kill and your Red Devils, Festaes, Trimacs etc. If you can find one get an Umbiferum. They can grow to exceed 24 inches in length. Very mean fish!

I swapped Umbi's around from tank to tank until I had gotten two that would accept each other. I was able to get a pair of Umbriferum to spawn at 6-8 inches in a 55,though the male quickly outgrew the tank-they still got along well. I had Festae that started to pair at the same size but they fatally injured each other after they paired off. And I once startd with 6 Trimacs and ended up with one.

Meanest fish for a 75 gallon tank? prolly be a Jag/red terror/green terror something on that level. But also it depends of the fish itself. My 135 gallon tank I house a Jag, green terror and a red devil all are about 11 inches. Jag runs the tank during the day, light out devil rules the tank. But if you want the ulitimate fish and you have a a big enough tank either a umbee or a Dovii Umbess can grow to 24 or more inches Dovii's can hit 36 or more. Right now I house a dovii in my 220, he is almost a foot long and he has already made me get rid of my orange pike, and pleco.

Buttakoferi gets my vote, meanest cichlid I've personally seen. But they also seem to have personality (not a dumb brute).
