i'm pretty sure he/she is either a vieja or a theraps, maybe a paratheraps. i thought possibly synspillum, bifasciatum..
i really don't know. i hope Jason or Rex can identify. this fish is almost 3 inches long, showing no color yet. (sorry about the bad quality.. this camera sucks)

definitely looks like a Paratheraps of some sort but it might be difficult to tell for sure until it gets a bit bigger and shows some more color.
I see some Amphilophus in it as well.

well.. it's even more of a mystery now! i'll take progressive pics as it grows... it's definately growing faster than the dovii, grammodes, and oscar

Very similar markings on him to my juvie Firemouth. Mine's only 3.5" here but the colours similar, maybe there's a bit of Thorichthys meeki in him???

I don't want to hijack this thread, but barramundi that fish doesn't look like a firemouth. it looks like it could be one of a few very closely related Thorichthys species. do you have any other pics of that fish? if so could you post some more in the Picture gallery...I'd love to see them. :)
