would using medication when fish arent sick, help prevent infection?

would using MelaFix help in doing this?

IMO, no. Adding most medications decreases the oxygen in the water causing stress to the fish. Plus it makes your tank look bad :P

Proper care and adding a minor amount of salt to your tank should insure healthy fish

i agree with gir--good tank husbandry is the best way to prevent infection.

Yep, and if you don't have good husbandry, make sure you give them plenty of hiding spaces.

Oh, frequent small water changes help out tremendously.

I would also think that your fish would develop some sort of immunity to the meds. making them useless in times of real need. Just a thought.
