I was at the EIAA auction yesterday with some fish buddies, and snagged what looks like a Synodontis flavitaeniatus for $6. Its about 2.5-3" in size and is quite differently marked then most synos I've seen, it has horizontal barring instead of spots.

IMO any Synodontis species for less than $10 is a great buy...

I think "ocilifer" and "eupetres" are the two more "common" species...(even if I can't spell them...)

Good snag Woot! Got Pics?

Not yet, but I'm sure I will eventually. It was abit stressed from the long ride home and had faded its markings abit. It seems to like its new cave though, and has markings colored back up now.

i think that jonah has one of those, too. sounds like a good deal to me.

edit: oops...that was a synodontis contractus that jonah bought.

aquarium salt, quick cure, a temp raise, and abit of luck. I hope he pulls through, Seedy. When I first got him Lace cats, one of them had Ich, luckily I didn't lose any of the fish in the tank. The sooner its caught and treated the better. GL

Thanks woot. I posted a thread about it. (and I pretty much did exactly as you recomend)

Mines a little guy still, abit smaller then my smallest Angelicus. its in a Mbuna fry tank with some Bristlenose, seems to be doing ok. Although he isn't gobbling up food like the other Synos yet. :( It is still pretty new, hopefully it gets adjusted and beefs up.

I guess this guy likes zuncinni! When I turned the growout rooms lights on today he was chilling in the remains of just the green peel! He has a tummy now too, hopefully he will get some size. :D That wasn't a small slice either.
