Do cichlids and sharks mix?? Frogs??

I found a new pet store in town today, and the owner had two really nice sharks in a 90 gal. with about 50 small cichlids and a FROG!!

Is that common? Are there any sharks or frogs that can be kept with africans?

Any idea about the pH requirements for those to match okay in the same tank??

(The sharks looked GREAT, but it looked like the frogger was gettin ATE)

I have heard of and seen a breed of african frog that can be kept with Cichlids... however, that being said, the frog will occaisionally use its claws to take a piece out of your fish.

I hate the LFS because they do this type of stuff. I Went to one that had Malawi, Tang's and American Cichlids all mixed up in one big tank. When you talk to the people there they seem all knowledgable, but as soon as you press them a majority of the employees back-down. I bought my johanni and blue dolphin for a total of $5.00 because this store around the corner from me thought they were Kennyi's.
When you go to the LFS and they have these wierd mixes of fish in one tank, do some research for yourself before you try it at home. Putting sharks (since cichlids are freshwater fish, you must mean a Bala Shark which is not at all aggressive) then the display at the store seems like a recipie for disaster. Give it a week and the "sharks" will be toast.

Darn!! The sharks looked so good in there... too good to be true I guess.

BTW, the sharks were about 3-4 inches, in with a bunch of cichlids mostly under an inch, so I guess the sharks were safe only for the time being...

Maybe if I fed the cichlids some prozac they'd be nice and leave 'em alone

Yeah I had an Oscar who ate all of my bala sharks in the tank, so I went a bought a bala that was twice the size of the Oscar. The oscar obviously could eat him, but still proceeded to take chunks out of the shark every day.
