I have been keeping community tropical aquariums for 5 years and due to a recent move/tear down I am interested in keeping Cichlids. My set up is a 29g w/ a new Pengiun 330 (dual bio wheel). I am specificaly interested in keeping Labidochromis caeruleus, (electric yellow mbuna I believe is the common name). Any opinions wheather or not this is an adaquate tank size would be appreciated, along with stocking recommendations. Also do you all think that the 330gph filter is adaquate?

i'm really no expert, but it sounds good to me... my filter's not quite that good, and i haven't had any problems with my 29 gal. i say go for it.

Your filter will be fine. Just use a lot of rock when you decorate the tank, keep the pH up in the 8's, and I'd start out with 6 small ones. They'll figure out the sexing on their own. Just get rid of any extra males if they get beligerant.

BTW, 29g is the absolute minimum I would try to keep these cichlids in, and that's only because the labs are usually not as aggro as the other mbuna.
