If I tag along to wholesalers, I can get Syno. Angelicus for $18 each. I'm gonna get me a big adult one for $30 from there sometime. I was sooo close to getting one last time, I liked the markings of the littler ones better though. My first one I got is starting to get more size to him, maybe 4" now. The one with nicer markings is abit smaller still.

I got some lace cats for like $6 at a salt water shop while I was checking it out. The biggest one is a beast now, and is actually kinda cool looking IMO. I bet its around 6" now, it doesn't take the Mbunas crap.

I've seen a few less known types (to me)of Synos, but they usually don't look too special. Synodontis budgetti was one of them.

okay, after more looking, i think that i have 2 h. membranaceus, and no b. batensoda...but i'm still not sure---those two are hard to tell apart. i wonder if it's a pair? one of them is almost twice the size of the other.

also, one of the cats that was sold to me as an ocellifer, i now believe to be a s. notatus ocellatus. 2 cats which were sold to me as petricola(which i've known to be wrong for some time), i'm still working on, but i think that one is an ocellifer and the other an acanthiomas...i've got spots floating before my eyes from staring at all these spotted catfish!

Wow how can you mix up ocellifer and petricolas? Where do you get your oddball Synodontis at? Alot of them I've never heard of.

I picked up a small Synodontis flavitaeniatus at the last EIAA auction. Only $6, and he isn't spotted!

i got them at 3 different lfs. on aquabid, i got s. petricola, s. multipunctatus, s.nyassae, and s. shoutedeni.

have you seen pics of the adult flavitaeniatus? the lighter area is pale red!

oh, and i forgot the angelicus--aquabid. i had a eurystoma(polli), but it died in a move, and i may still have 1 microsynodontis batesi hiding in the rocks of one tank(lfs).

The only pics I've really seen of them are off of planet catfish. I hear the stripes can be anywhere from a yellow to orange. Pale red might be neat too.
