Strange body shape

I have had a male H. obliq for about 6 months. It constantly looks emaciated. There is a deep indentation where the pelvic fins fold up. Is this the normal shape of the H. obliq?

It eats and interacts with other fish normally. This fish also never hides for anything. I am feeding cichlid flake, seaweed, krill and colorbits.

i have noticed that with vics from the pet store...i would feed pepso food for a week, then feed the fish well until his belly fills out.
