My son was given 2 fish and he was told they were "Red-Face (Faced?) Mac's". They have a general mbuna shape, are silver/grey in color and most of the head/neck/forward abdomen are a yellow/gold color. They are about 5" long. I can't find anything on them. Is anyone familiar with this fish?
Thanks, Sam

saw mention of them on a couple of aussie forums--maybe they can help?

Thanks Gypsy,
I should have known you would come to my rescue! Sorry I didn't reply to the PM, it wouldn't let me for some unknown reason. I am putting lace rock in the center of the tank, a slate formation at one end and a rock that looks like a combination of lace rock and granite at the other end. I am going to try to leave at least a one foot space between rock formations. I had an interesting experience on the way back to "The Peoples Socialist Republik of Kalifornia". I did a little research on lace rock and found that most of it comes from eastern Nevada and western Utah. I stopped in a little town in southern Utah at a rock sales yard They had pieces of lace rock bigger than my aquarium. It sold for $2/lb. but it is very light so I bought one that is about 24" long and 18" high. It is hollow in back and has two holes approx. 3' in front. The ends are blocked. I can see some fish setting up a private condo in there. My son gave me 4 fairly large pieces with lots of holes/caves/depression/overhangs and a couple of smaller ones. I am using the method I read about on malawicichlids.com to cycle my tank with out using "throw away" fish. It is called fishless cycling and uses pure ammonia. I'll report on how it works. thanks for the advice.
Sam
