okay, so our common pleco was on the front of the glass eating away...

we go to taco bell and grab some burritos.. (10 mins TOPS)

we get back to eat the burritos....

and he's dead, and the cichlids are eating him.....

w...t....f.....

he was sucking on the top where there is silicone, and it is stained blue from quick cure... but that was months ago and i've never heard of a pleco dying frim that.....

Perhaps it was a cichlid that decided to attack and kill it...

sometimes a fish looks healthy and then it's dead. it totally sucks but it happens :(

...I swear sometimes fish remind me of lightbulbs...shining, shining, shining..then <zip>burned out...

thanks for the replies guys... i would replace him, but theres no need for another pleco in that tank anyways :/

puff,what kind of cichlids you got in there with it,what were there sizes compared to the size of the pleco?I've had a few plecos die on me due to stress(tankmates constantly bickering with them)although they have there armor to defend them against attacks,From my experiances with them to much confrontation kindoff gets the best of them.Sorry about your loss,brightside-not very expensive to replace if needed.

last night my cray ate my choc pleco... guess he thought he was made of choc?

i am actually very surprised cause i thought with the armour of a pleco... it would be safe with my cray. my other crays haven't bothered their pleco tank-mates.

all the fish in there are fairly small cichlids, like 2 severums and a nicki, a jd, and a firemouth.... a few other things.... but this pleco was in there for over a year with these fish and never had a problem... and i've never seen any of the other fish mess with him at all... everyone leaves each other alone for the most part, aside the sevs lip locking every time i do a water change heh.

he was about 7 inches and all the other fish are about 4-5" or so... plus theres another smaller 4 inch pleco in there as well. no one ever picked on him..... so weird....

(i'm suspicious of the quick-cure stained silicone, he was sucking on it for aobut 10 mins)
