Well I am finally back from vacation with a great new christmas present.

A young pair of Yssichromis argens. :D Hope to have them spawning shortly.

Hope everyone else had a Merry Christmas.

Hi Sean, have you just a couple of them, they live in school in the wild and you will need more fishes. Don't mix this species with mbunas or mbipis, she 's shy species, zooplanktivorous from the upper water column, she can't live with territorials species.

Thanks for the info, I already know about them. Unfortunately they are alot more rare in the US than in Europe. I was only able to acquire a pair and therefore I will breed the pair and start a larger colony. I have alot of experience with keeping and spawning difficult open water Victorian species so this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Salam Sean, as sonn as they spawn try to keep a big colony of them. We have this species in Europe and it's a wonderful colorated fish.
Good luck with them

Salam Sean, did you keep H.pyrrhocephalus or laparogramma? i have 4 zooplanctivorous species but i think you perhaps have in US species that we don't have in Europe.

No I have them divided right now. I am adding tanks and rearranging the fishroom right now. I want to make sure that everything is right and I have time to keep a close eye on them. It would not be very good to lose this pair. I am afraid to think what the next pair would cost me.

Samak I do not keep either however I do know someone with pyrrhocephalus that are looking great. I keep Prognathochromis perrieri, Hap sp. Palisa Black Slick as far as the more uncommon open water species.

Salam Sean, i have the zooplanctivorous species that follow argens(7 spe) pyrrhocephalus(5spe) tipped blue(2spe) piceatus(6 spe) and i'm surchin' for others species like laparogramma, citrus,cinctus,fusiformis,etc.. but they are quite unfindable even in specialised traders. hey Gypsi if you don't know them they are for the vics what cyprichromis are for the Tangs and perhaps the most beautiful and interresting fishes(their color body is full of reflects, silvery, red, blue etc..) i've ever seen ina tank.
