My female cyntilapia afra is finally holding eggs and I'm not sure what to do. Last time I didn't do anything and I guess all the other fish just ate her babies. How long should I wait before I move her. The tempature of the tank is 80. I set up a 10 gallon to put her in, but it didn't have a mature filter. Should I take one of my 30g or I could use a powerhead from my 55g. The one I would use from the 30g is a Penguin 125.

most mbuna hold for about 28 days, so you have time to mature a sponge filter for the 10 gal. just place it in your main tank until you are ready to move the female. i would leave her in the main tank for about 3 weeks. good luck!

Yea you don't want to move her too soon or she might spit some of the eggs too soon in the struggle. I made that mistake, I got a holding Acei female to go into the breeder net and she started trying to brush up aginst the sides with her mouth and all the sudden i saw like 15+ eggs fall out, Very disappointing  By two weeks the fry should be formed enough where they won't spit them, and if they do they will be able to swim alittle probably and will suck them back up. Well as long as the tank mates dont try and eat it thru the breeder net or in the tank.
