tank repair question

I am setting up a used (new to me) 55g tank. The plastic rim at the top of the tank breaks in the middle (support bar holding from front to back) right after I fill it up. so I drained it halfway and that took the stress off the glass and then I bought some marine (waterproof) epoxy that says its for boats and pvc. I put it on and after 24 hours it will be 80% done and a week it says 100%. So my question is did I screw up really bad and put something on my tank that will be toxic to its inhabitants ? If so can I buy a new "rim" for the top of the tank? Thanks

I really doubt its gonna hurt anything once its cured, besides the middle post is about an inch or two above the water. If your still concerned contact the manufacturer and get more info.

yeah it will be a little bit above the water, only way it would touch is a little splashing from my current :)

but matt agrees with you that it should pose no harm, Ill let ya know if anything dies
