The more I look at the Tidepool system by Marineland, the more I think Sterilite storage containers. Call me crazy but I think the three drawer system with a storage container and a little work could be close to the same.

Debbie looks at storage containers and thinks christmas storage, I look at them and think sump system,I know i'm sick like the rest of you

I was thinking the same thing. A pal of mine has a TidePool set up on his mini-reef tank. I was stunned that such a fragile piece of mass-produced plastic could cost so much.

I propose that we have a group effort at recreating the TidePool with "off the shelf" items. Between your LFS and Walmart, I'll bet we could put one together.

I agree, the operating system manual can be downloaded from Marinelands site, I wish I could look at one firsthand.

I noticed Target had plenty of three drawer systems, and a bizillion containers, instead of the biowheel you could just use bioballs under the drawers and then a acrylic or plastic divider in the container.

How is the water distributed to the first drawer on your friends Tidepool?
I'm guessing a spraybar that spins ? Thats about the only thing I can't see on the plans.

I really have no idea. He wouldn't let me take it apart! I'll check the Target website and see if they have what you're talking about online.
