it's gonna take some work to get this stuff presentable again.i got an old 55 gallon tank,an ac200,ac150,old @$$ ac610,2 useless little air pumps,a visi-therm 100w heater, and a crusty penguin330.i'm starting to wonder who made out on this deal and i don't think it was me!  :drink:

08-12-2004, 10:10 PM
all the filters oh yeah i forgot to mention i had to sit in 2hrs worth of traffic to go get it:dunce:

08-12-2004, 10:13 PM
Drop those useless little air pumps in the mail to me. Some day you will realize how handy they are in a breeding program attached to sponge filters.

Seriously if you don't want the air pumps how much you want for them?

Btw you got a great deal and ya know it... :D

08-12-2004, 10:18 PM
:)perhaps i spoke too hastily. i just plugged them in, they don't work .i've got a bag of extra air pump diaphrams i'll see if i can get them to work.yeah i know i was just being retarded.

08-12-2004, 10:20 PM
ya id buy the tank for 30.....

08-12-2004, 10:22 PM
That Visi-Therm heater there, be careful with it. I have been having absolute crappy luck with mine of late. They are rock solid as long as you keep them in use. If you remove them from a tank then store them for extended periods of time they tend to leak. I would check it in a bucket or something before I stuck it in with some fish.

So what you gonna put in it?

08-12-2004, 10:29 PM
yeah upon closer inspection i see that it has water inside it,i'm gonna toss it.you know i set up a 15 that i wanted to put some dwarf cockatoo's in.instead i may try to plant out this 55 and put in a couple pairs or just a large harem.

08-12-2004, 10:33 PM
Post some pics I would love to see them once you have it situated. I traded a pair of Multi's for a 45 gallon a few weeks ago. Gotta get off my duff and get that one going sometime soon myself.

tbrodale, the tank"might" be worth $30.the only thing that makes me hesitant is that the glass is so thin (3/16").solace i don't know what it is but lately i've been into the dwarfs.

08-12-2004, 10:58 PM
5 bucks for silicon...almost nothing for a rasorblade...make any tank new...if the glass is still there it doesnt matter how thin it is in my opinion...

You must be used to the foot thick glass on the Oceanic type tanks.

Fill that sucker up with water outside let it sit a day or so then your off to the races.

I have just the friend that can hook you up with dwarfs if you are after americans, David Soares.

hehe...you might make a fortune at an antique dealers...just kidding....Have you tried the Aquaclears and Penguin to see if they work? It shouldn't be too hard to pick up a couple of motors for those if not. Nice little project you got yourself there.

I think you got a bargin $25 cant go wrong really, think about it you got a 55g tank!

08-13-2004, 12:51 AM
:rofl:probably could make some dough on some of this stuff as it seems to be ancient artifacts.yeah i know i'm worried over nothin,my newer 55 only has 1/16" thicker glass not a big difference.all the filters work but the ac's need new impellers. solace, thanks for the name drop,i also have been looking at this other guys site(ray mcCaleb).doesn't david soares have a $100 minimum or something like that?

08-13-2004, 12:53 AM
your right vip it's a good find:ok:

08-13-2004, 12:56 AM
you guys have any suggestions what i could do for a center support?he's got a piece of 3/8 glass siliconed in place as a brace, but it doesn't look too strong to me.

08-13-2004, 10:43 AM
cich1, how did you find out about that tank? I've been looking around in classifieds and stuff in my area but haven't found any sizeable tanks yet. Nothing over a 25g.

08-13-2004, 10:50 AM

I would think that glass would be just fine if it is secured properly. My 210 Oceanic uses glass center braces so do my AG 90's. If you aren't secure with the glass there now replace it with a thicker sheet.

Check out yard/garage sales you will find tanks there CHEAP.

08-13-2004, 11:32 AM
ed,i found it on a internet classifieds site called craigslist. solace, the glass looks thick enough to me i just wasn't too sure about how he secured it to the tank(just siliconed on both ends)i'm gonna go start scrubbing here in a minute what should i use on some of the hard water stains and the more stubborn gunk?

08-13-2004, 05:57 PM
well i got it pretty clean, took a razor blade and alot of elbow grease but it's clean.i also painted the back black. wow nice reflection! i suck at taking pics.oh well ,trust me the back looks good in black.:D

08-13-2004, 09:59 PM
are those airpumps really that crap? because i have the ones the same as the one with the green sticker on it lol

08-13-2004, 10:00 PM
HOLY CRAP CICH! thats turned up brand new looking!

08-13-2004, 11:08 PM
thanks guys.it turned out better than i had expected it to.there are some minor scratches but i don't really care.now i have to come up with a stand,i think for this one all just keep it cheap(2x4 construction with some type of cloth to cover it).vip , i was being sarcastic about the air pumps they're okay i'll take solace's advice and use them with a sponge filter for my 15 gallon.:ok:
