My friend steve has a few nile puffers(same type puffer I believe)there all small about 4",he tells me they get very aggression once mature,he used to have them and the brackish water spotted puffers a few years back in the same tank he said that was a big nono, the niles are to aggressive and grow to large,I just yahooed up some info-max size 18" in aquaria though smaller 8-10" Should be kept alone because of the aggression factor, not a very good candidate for a community tank or even species tank since from what I've read they will not even tolerate there own kind, steve might be in for a rude awakening, hope this helped karl, take care.

Karl,
These fish are freshwater, not brackish.

would any body be able to help me i have had a nile puffer for a while now in a 75 gallon tank but he tends to make a right mess of it. Is there a filtration set up which would be best for these fish???? i have a basic ehiem canister at the moment but i cant seem to get rid of the fish waste?

also so far he has grown up with a 9" pleco is there any other cleaner fish which would be cool to keep in the tank???

Any help would be much appre!!!!!:ok:
