thanks seedy,i was planning on getting rid of it when it got to big for my 55 but now i'm growing attached to him/her.i should have a while though before he outgrows my tank right?

Yes, a while....Truth be told, I've been pretty brutal to common plecos over the years....I had a 16+ incher living in my 40gallon at one time...(he was my mother's and she refused to get a bigger tank....I ended up selling him w/my Mbuna when I moved to Santa Barbara for school....He was cool!

Now I try to stick to the smaller fancy plecos or the slow growing fancy one....Panaque, Leprocanthicus, Ancistrus...etc...


I know my Royal will get huge, but he'll only get there at about 1 inch per year...so I've got some time.... :rolleyes:

yeah it was an impulse buy.my cichlids "evicted" the red tailed black shark(chewed him to pieces),so i went down to the lfs and saw this pleco and ended up taking him home.
