Beautiful set up. I failed miserably at mine. I'm so happy there are people like you who have the patience to do this so I can enjoy looking without the aggravation.

A very nice looking nano reef WorldNation!...Is your clown tank raised? How bout the corals and inverts?....If I were to do a saltwater tank, it would have to be all aquaculture stuff, or I couldn't stand myself....

thanks guys :D i only got into this from a link someone posted here in the forums long long time ago. 99% of my livestock is aqua cultured. there were some hitchhikers that came with the lr that i kept, and a flame scallop(got when i started without knowing what i was doing) that i had for a while. there are 3 things i learned when i dived into saltwater.

1- Saltwater Wholesalers/importers/collectors are EVIL A$$GFHYJJTRJYTKE. u wouldnt believe some of the stuff these ppl are taking out of the ocean. stuff thats known to not live for more than a month, bah! anyways ;p

2- Patience, looooots of patience

3- And finally, i learned theres no bottom to my pockets, lol

rough estimate, id say around 1,000. if your interested in something liek that, here are some pointers. lights, try to get around 96watts of 50/50 lightin on there, or if u want, get a 150watt MH and just keep it about a foot away from the water. and second, FEED, whatever corals u get, shrooms, polyps, acroporas, hydnophoras, montis, caps, etc etc.feed them. lots of phytoplankton. a lot of these guys are known to plainly starve to death in the aquarium.

:jaw: $1000.hey worldnation was it so expensive because of specialized equipment or livestock or both?i don't know a damn thing about salt water tanks i'm just curious.:)

livestock. all the equipment(except for the lights($125, bulbs replaced once a yr) was freshwater equipment. the thing that gets ya is all the live stock.

i just set up my nano tank about a week ago not knowing anything about it though but ive been looking over on reefcentral.com and they have lots of info there but so far all i have in there is some live rock and 4 damsels i had 5 but it died before we got the levels and live rock right and in im looking forward to this once we getting to know how the levels work and get them set were gonna start adding coral and maybe a small anenome im not sure

You really should not have any damsels in the tank while it is cyclind because thats really cruel. the live rock by itself will cycle the tank and you should also wait until your ammonia and nitrite are at zero and when your nitrate is lower than 10ppm. also damsels are a very bad fish to start with because they are very agressive. you should also wait about 2-6 months before adding an anemone and even then they have very high lighting requirments.

the majority seem to be doing alright 3 of 5 are still alive and the guy at my lfs said that even though its only been cycling for about 2 weeks it should be safe but were gonna do a 30% water change with reverse osmosis to bring the salinity down since that is still way too high and that anenome is a lie i dont think were gonna get one maybe some coral until we set up the 100 gal
