That shouldn't be a problem. And you can add more non-cichlids to the tank also.

It should work, it just depends on the fish. My 55 gallon has a 6" GT, a 5" JD, four yoyo loaches, several gold and opaline gouramis, and a small pleco. Everyone gets along famously. In fact, the only aggression is between the gouramis.
