After getting rid of my africans and getting all these fish I am hoping to bounce my ideas off everyone to see what problems I will run into.

My plan is my 187 gallon to be stocked as follows

Pair of Bleekeri
3 Cytacara Moori
Male and female true Aequidens rivulatus.
2 Frontosa
1 Geophagus Brasillias
1 wild caught Oscar
Here is the kicker. (I am going to try a dovii)

The africans are mostly a selfish nature as those are the ones I enjoy in my big tank. Come to think of it though all of the fish are ones I have always wanted.

PH from my taps come out about 7.6 which I think will be fine for everyone.
Most of the
fish are going to get a good head start on growth. Bleekeri and Fronts are quite large. I am taking all of the fish out of the tank for a week prior to introducing them. In that time I will redecorate it. Sand substrate with large driftwood and large rocks for decorations. I would like to do a den for the dovi by lining up rocks to make a sort of pool to show some seperation. Fish are growing up in seperate tanks right now. Not to big just enough to make sure they don't get swallowed.

I realize this is a very bizarre tank to say the least. Just about everything is wrong with the chemistry. Yet I feel if there is anyone to blame it is my wife as she won't let me have a tank to accomdate them all.
The good thing about her is that when fish are getting beat up or crowded she feels sorry for them and lets me get more tanks.

Is there anything else I can do to help this catastrophe work a bit better other than losing the dovi??

Thanks guys.

That sounds like a very cool tank. I would be very interested to see how things develop. My only concern would be the dovi as it gets larger. If you can make it work, it will be a sweet tank though. I would definitely try to overload the tank with fish, and provide a ton of hiding spaces, plants, caves, everything to break up the line of sight of the dovi.

Actually Chet as most of the other fish are pretty gentle compared to the dovi I am only going to make one distink territory. Maybe a couple places for the females to hide out if needed but other than that it will be pretty open.

Thanks for your thoughts.

If the dovii is a male, I will garantee it won't work (because for one the tank would be to small). If its a female it could work (it will still reach 14" or so). But I really don't know much about female dovii so I can't say how aggressive she would be.

Hhhmmm........I don't know, it just a relly strange assortment of fish. I really don't know what to think about it :) I Guess, just try. Work through problems as they arise, and hope that in the end you can keep all the fish :)

Dovii I am pretty sure is a female Rex. I don't get attached to fish very easily but the ones I do I really have a hard time getting rid of. Thanks for your input. I have to try it anyway right.......

everything in that tank is mild mannered, the dovii will kill everything the frontosas and moori haveno chance, if you are looking for dovii i have about 30 for sale, they are nice fish but need a large tank........
