View Full Version : How did you get your name?

This was kind of fun on another board!

Rudy is my Yellow Lab. Unfortunately had to get rid of him due to my new daughter but I love the guy. He just wouldn't settle down.

Got kicked out of his first obedience class (actually I got mad at the instructor) I believe the exact words were. "If you can't train him how the hell am I supposed to"

Boilermaker I am especially curious as I drank these at my stag!!

Beaker

Rudy, this is kinda weird, but this is how I came up with my name:

For a wedding gift, my wife's aunt decided she would give us a puppy from her dog's next litter. Well, her aunt raises/breeds labs and we wanted a yellow one. We had a while because the dog wasn't pregnant, so there were days we'd just tried to think of names. We came up with many, most stupid, but some were funny. I like hockey, so I thought Slapshot would be cool. I also came up with Beaker, from the whole "lab" thing. (Lab, science, beaker, get it?) I know it's a stretch, but we decided on Meg, so no worries. Anyways, I still liked the name Beaker, so when I got this Tire Track Eel I gave him that name. (I almost named him Goodyear though.) Well, Beaker has turned out to be loads of fun, eats from my hand, and happened to be looking at me when I was trying to think of a srceen name, so here we are. Kind of a long story, but I included the whole dog part because indirectly I got my name from a yellow lab too.

That is quite the coincidence on GypsyMermaid, I was hoping that was you with the mobile massage :)
Though I've done my share of Boilermakers(Alcoholic Beverages) Rudy, thats what I do for a living, I do bump into some Canadians now and again on the shutdowns or turnarounds.

Keeping on the Lab theme I had a black lab named Gypsy, but man she wasn't gettin enough attention tore up the backyard the grill, siding, grandkids toys, lilac bush etc.... So I finally put an add in the paper.

rudy--what does that mean?: 'bump'?

SGM- Bump means take this topic to the top. Also, you sometimes see TTT for "take to top". It just means you want more responses.

I picked "Jonah" because it's my favorite story from the Bible and it involves a big fish. Jonah 2:10 is "Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land."

Oh, why do I even bother replying? My user name here is my username everywhere else, as well as my email address at a dozen different places. It's just my name (Chris Hennes). Damn boring Iowans! :)

I'm not really bad. When i started working where i am now there were these dominoes commercials that had a puppet monkey called bad andy. Well, everyone in the office started calling me bad andy because of them and because my name is andy. a co-worker even tried to register www.badandy.com but dominoes had already taken it. my other nickname is tweak because "I just can't handle this kind of pressure". Another co-worker always thought i was going to snap and start shooting up the place. I don't know why. i think i'm a pretty laid back kind of guy. I do get a little stressed out, but that's normal. Anyway, I chose bad andy because he was more a clumsy stuffed animal compared to tweak who was going to shoot up my office.

Fun post.... I came up with my name because it was the only thing I could think of at the time and I was shocked to find that it wasn't already in use.

Time stamp says you began this thread in Sept, 2002. So that's a few days AC. We began this version of the site exactly two years ago today.

I guess I will add my name meaning 'for me' in here.

I used to be a big time video game player. Always played the assassin types in the mmorpgs like Dark Age of Camelot and the like.... Evercrack, Diablo + II. It has been my net name in those games for ages.... you could take 'Solace' in the fact you weren't the only one I whacked in the game.

I took this name from one of my favorite Eastwood movies, and it also describes me. I'm from the plains, am somewhat of a drifter, and, well....
