most puffers don't like to be in tanks with other fish, so i would be wary and do research before adding one to my tank if i were you neon.

Thanks guys. Puffers are great. Fahakas are incredible. As much personality as cichlids. Sometimes more I think. If you have a large spare tank that you want nothing else in I would go for a fahaka.

they only get like that when they are really PO'ed or get spooked really bad... its not good when they puff up. it would be extremely hard to get a pic of that

i have a puffer i forgot the name its like a bluish?to green fade but i think its still a juvie since its only about 2 or 3 in and he looks fine in a 10 gal with a silver dollar, 5 in bala shark, and a blue shark i forgot the name of it too

Yes VIP. They grow incredibly fast. I keep mine with a couple plecos and a cat and they are fine, but I watch them pretty close.
As for smart. You have to see it to believe it. They are amazing.

Cool fish Rudy! Sweet....smart eh? That's interesting. Does he do anything cool?

And sorry for this unsolicited advice, Pmipunisher - but those fish are in your 10 gallon? A bala shark gets like 12-14"....you are gonna seriously mess that fish up in there ;) I'm sure the same applies to your other shark too....

I can pic him about a foot out of water while he is holding onto a shrimp tail. I will get a pic. It is pretty cool.

Other than that. He is just interested in anything you are doing. comes to the side of the tank when people comes to the door (he is in the family room). He watches everything that you do. Really interactive fish. Tricks...not really, but he is still young.

Neat! Does he stare you down when he's out of the water?

I like the interactive types. All my cichlids except my acara seem really poeple friendly, and even go to the side to watch the tv when it's on. The acara couldn't care less about me though. It's like a cat ;) I find my parrot to be the most pet-like....

Have you taught any of your fish to do anything?

My old midas. She used to play witha ping pong ball. Pretend she was dead, until one day she was. Jumped clear out of the tank in the middle of the night.

She also followed my finger and spun around in circles.

Really miss that fish. the puffer is her replacement.

sorry about the loss btw.

my fahaka stares at me all the time.... he's still pretty small, but he has a lot of personality
