View Full Version : Just got my wild caught Oscar
It has been a really good week. I got a 1 inch wild caught Oscar. They had three there, however with my luck all of them would live.
I am really lucking out with fish these days. I have to grow it out with the terror in my 10. I will get some pics next week. :D :D :D :D :D

Awsome! I've never really liked Tiger Oscars and such, but wild oscars have always appealed to me. And how is that Terror doing?

nice one :D , i've got two wild oscars and you wont regret it, mine were about 1 1/2" 7 months ago and are about 6" now, not a colourful as tigers but cool fish, has yours still got juvenile markings, can you tell yet if it had got any dorsal oscelii, mine dident at first but there starting to come thru now.
Yes he is pretty cool looking. He looks kind of like aztec. White tip on his dorsal (I assume that is what you mean Neil). White line down his face. Typical oscar as well Get him home, throw him in the 10 and throw some food in for the terror and right away the oscar starts eating. His belly is so fat right now its hilarious.
The terror is doing good Rex he has some dorsal damage that does not look like it will heal unfortunately :(
Now if I could only get rid of my africans so I can get my new tank going

rudy, mine actually have eye spots, along the dorsal ridge as well as at the base of the tail, i'm told its a trait of "wild oscars", mine have the edging to the tip of the dorsal and edge of the caudal, but theirs is orange rather that the usual off white
Actually I beleive as they get bigger they develop the orange eye spots. Along the dorsal and by the tail fin are typical of wild oscars. This is how you can usually tell the difference between a common farm raised, and actually wild caught.
Your oscars sound awesome neil you will have to get some pics.
