This fish has the most spots, although not that visible here. They are around his mouth, on his scales, and even one on his fin.

(I don't know what happened to that picture, it was working when I posted it... hmmm)
Anyways,
The best way to describe the spots is to compare them to freckles. They are dark spots, not black but dark grey. They are on 3 of my 5 fish, and they all started getting them within a week. They have appeared mostly around the mouth of my Maylandia Lombardio, and he also has them on his side, and one on his fin. His colors have also dulled a bit since they spots showed up. BTW, the spots look like they are right in his pigment, i.e. they are not raised.
My N. Brichardi has a couple spots, as does my Mbuna (around her mouth). My M. Estherae has none at all, and my M. Auratus is too dark to tell.
I have asked the fish guru at my pet store about this, and his staff who have cichilds. Only one of them has heard of this before, but could offer no suggestions as to what it might be. The "guru" said he checked out a cichlid disease book and nothing similar was listed.
One possibility is I have some feeder fish in a bowl... maybe there was some cross-contamination from them... (like rats, they are!)
:)
Thanks for any help!

Do a google search on Ich and see if that is what it looks like. It is really common. Especially with new tanks and recently bought fish.

I looked into Ich... definitely not that.
It's DARK spots, not white, not like "sugar or salt has been sprinkled on your fish."
They look like Freckles!!
I've had these fish for over 6 months with no new introductions...
Darn...
Maybe I have an all-new disease!! LOL
Do I get to name it after myself?

It could be some sort of parasite. Are the spots getting bigger? Pictures would def. help.

I'll just post the URL to the photos, since they're not working here...
My fish are really skiddish when I bring the camera to the glass, so even though I took 60+ photos, I have few where you can even see the spots.
