So i went to michaels yesterday and in michaels they have a veriety of clay pots all sized from 1" up.
SO i started thinking, and decided fry wall or stack
First go to michels in small packages above the pots are some verry tiny pots 1 inch and one size more up 1 3/4 inch
Get a piece of plexi the size of the back of the tank for the inside as it will be submerged.
Glue the tiny pots to the back like this with silicone or a poly resin
--------------------------------
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
--------------------------------
Then cover in sand, gravel rock or as i like Pool filter sand creating lots of tiny little fry caves for them to hang out in

I just bought a ton of pots at our local Michaels around 27 cents per pot. If you give your plan a shot I would like to see some pics of it. :) Good luck!

That fry wall sounds really cool - I'd like to give it a shot too but I would like a bit more of a detailed idea...ie...a picture or two or five.

I was at Rag Shop yesterday - don't ask.... :yikes: and I saw the same little clay pots... my son and I started discussing the idea and didn't follow thru since my tank is visible 360 degrees...
But today I got to thinking what if instead of attaching the bottom if the pots to an acrylic board, what if I attached them bottom-to-bottom with another pot... continue this in much the same way as you described.
This would result in a wall that can be placed in the center of the tank... Maybe make the bottom row from larger pots to mak it more stable and work up to smaller pots.
I guess the bottom pots could be half filled with sand/substrate....
I guess an even more creative twist would be to get a 2" piece of PVC pipe and silicone the little pots to it going around in a spiral, then when it dry and cured, coat the exposed part of the PVC with silicone and sprinkle it with your sand/substrate... Stand it up and you'll have a little clay pot condo building!
:2xmas: I think I'm getting carried away - I better stop before they come to carry me away ! :2xmas:
Well, either way - great idea - post pictures!!

Sorry, I "broke" all the links when I re-did my gallery...there should be pics of the finished project both in my gallery at cichlidgallery.com and in the "finished" thread I posted in this forum...
THe original post is too old for me to edit, or I'd just update the links...http://www.cichlidgallery.com/album126
