im tearing down my african tank and going neotropical. as my wife says "they just arent as friendly". figured id put the jd as well as prolly one of the cons in it and maybe get ol jackie a husband. <blue jd >

now my question is when tearing down the african tank do i get ridof all the gravel but leave the filter media and everything else? or do i chagne it and just start new ?

I think you could keep anything that won't raise the ph of the water. ie - coral, holey rock etc...

If it's real coral it will raise the ph.

i dont have a camera /cry

o and i kept all the filter media and changed the gravel so the ph should be lower for them :)
tank is still a lil cloudy but it should clear up in a day or so. also do u think i will get a cycle? or will i just get a little spike?

just play around with 802 powerheads and i'll betcha they start working again...untwist 'em and put them back together....can even do this while they're plugged in so you know when they start to work again......i have this problem all the time when doing water changes, try not to run them dry, that usually is the trick for me....imo i like the water movement so i'd say hook 'em back up..

I don't think the powerheads are a necessity, but they will help. About the only filtration equipment that wouldn't be helpful from a saltwater tank to a freshwater tank is a protien skimmer.
