Can I use hot glue to glue things down in my aquariums? Will it hurt the fish?

Too many brands, check the composition of the hot glue sticks and see if it will leach anything into the water. Most brand should do fine though.

Try silicone you can get it in a giant tube at home depot and this is cheap about $ 6.
Hot or cold melt glue sticks may have somthing in their compesition that may hurt the fish
Silicone is safe for all fish be sure to read the package should be silicone 1 in a silver toned tube by GE

I've used hot melt glue (walmart High Temp) with no problems - for years!
It is good to keep stuff together - but dot rely on it for strength.

I read one site this guy was building a huge tank out side.He recommended SCS-1200 or R-108 silicon.I don't know if one of them is the GE-I or what.I've been meaning to get to the store and research this matter.
I've used hot glue on all kinds of stuff and never noticed any bad effects.I guess it's just melted nylon.
PVC cement may work. It's just a matter of finding one of the three above that will stick to what your wanting to glue.

I've always used the HIGH temp glue - it holds better... and you can;t use it on everything... slick things won't work (glass to glass) (polished rocks, etc) will not hold...
if you are doing rocks with pits, make sure to getthe glue into the pits- they will hold if they together - but won't support their weight... just use it to avoid a fish induced avalache...

Silicone , Silicone , Silicone should I say it again Silicone .
Not toxic to fish will hold anything together even glass to glass and metal to metal( dont put metal in the tank) rock to rock eaven dead marine rocks and corals.
Keeps its strength in water and does not disolve or liquify after long times in water
And any filter, power head, rock shelf reef or otherparts with a little southern engineering is adaptable with the use of silicone to almost any tank
Cant say enough 'bout that wonderful stuff

I'd skip the pvc cemment.... It takes longer to gas off, no prob for us large organisms but for fish I's worry. Go with the silicone it only needs 24 hours after setting to gas off enough. Takes 12 hours at normal house temps to cure + 24 hours to gas off, let it gas off in air not water.
