Hi friends, i saw that there's not a lot of people who maintain vics in Victoria fish community or a Kyoga community. Is it a choice, i mean are you afraid of inbred or nobody try this way?
merci d'avance Christophe

Hey Cristophe,

I maintain all my Vics in either a species tank, or a community tank with only one Victorian species. I do so for several reasons. Mainly, I'm concerned about what's happening in the Victoria Basin. With the spectre of imminent extinction hanging over every species, we might not be able to get more wild stock at any time.

In an effort to help bring in some hobby dollars, and perpetuate captive stocks, I also sell a fair amount of young fish. I would be mortified if something I presented as a purebred fish turned out to be hybridized  That is also the reason for my posting about the All Reds. I have genetic variety (i.e. fish from different sources) in all my Vic colonies except the All Reds. I was hoping to get some more before my group matured. Based on your and Kevins replies, I think I'm going to have to wait until one of the males get's big enough for a close comparison with whatever I decide to buy.

Thanks for that link, by the way, I'll peruse it over the weekend.

By the way, what is a Kyoga community

Hi scotty, a Kyoga community is a assemblage of fishes whom come from Kyoga lake with for example All red Kyoga, H.orthostoma, H.silver stilletto,
H.latifasciatus, H.golden duck, ruby green, nushisquamulatus, etc..
