Hello everyone, I have a quick question. I would like to change the color of the wood trim on the top and bottom of my aquarium (I dont like the pine look). I was thinking about covering it with contact paper or just painting it.
Would either of these methods be potentially hazardous to the health of my fish? Or has anyone else tried doing this. Any recomendations would be very helpful.
thanks!

Contact paper would be safer than paint, any paint falling into the aquarium would be bad. I took an aquarium with black trim once and covered it with that wood-paper thing that you cover desks with. I guess you're trying to do it the other way around eh?

Yes - I want to do the reverse of yours - we should have traded!

I painted the trim on one of my big tanks, but I did it before I filled the tank. It went from wood trim to black.

Any special type of paint - my aquarium is empty now, so no problems there.

I think it was acrylic, but I didn't pay much attention. It was just something I had in the garage when I decided to paint over the trim.
