how do i tell the sex of my red oscar? "he's" about 6 in long.

I'm sorry to tell you but I have heard that the only time that you can tell the sex for sure is during spawning.

You can vent them. This is the only sure way.

Get a net and take them out. Look at the bottom. Easiest way to explain it is this. There will be two holes. In a female there will be one hole that is more rounded and larger in size. The males there will be little difference between the two. Even Venting is difficult with Oscars until they are about 8 inches in length.
