whenever i feed my cichlids, my 2 venustus grub up as much food as they can into their mouths, run off to anohter corner of the tank, spit it out onto the ground and eat it there, like hording food. this normal?

Yeah, you might try to give them a little food at a time so they don't horde. My Acei and Phenochiluses exhibit this behavior.
