View Full Version : Ps. Red top Ndumbi
This is a friend of mine (fishwhisperer), I got 9 little fry from this guy pictured here. I also have 8 fry from Jason at Big Sky Cichlids (www.bigskycichlids.com).
This picture is alittle washed out from the flash, but shows his attitude well.

Ya some time in the next few months or so im getting some from Jason Selong at Big Sky Cichlids that Im going to grow out to breed. His fish are very nice looking.
True that, if you get some fry from your group eventually let me know. I'd be up for some trading.

PCN-check your pms....
If you want to see a nice Red top Ndumbi check out Big Sky Cichlids (http://www.bigskycichlids.com). Jason has some very nice pictures he took of his dominant male, at the time I took those pictures of Fishwhisperer's male he was still fairly new to the tank and has colored up alot more since.

Very cool fish! Should be more widely available.
How can you resist such a cute little face? :D You wouldn't think he'd be so aggressive, but he is. They have little behaviour habits that differ from alot of Mbuna too, like they like to build up their digging towards the front of their cave to limit access to just smaller fish and themselves on their sides. They are good breeders though, I got a trio but one female isn't fertile I think. She looks like shes full of eggs and they try to spawn but nothing everytime. His other female has spawned two times for me and came holding. She holds full mouthfuls of 20-30 fry, looks like I'll have a good group once I grow this other strain's offspring up.

They are a neat fish, and SHOULD be more popular. A few of the older vetran African guys say they kept them years ago, but they stopped showing up. A few lists are starting to carry them again, and now that Old world has them at pond raised its just a matter of time.
