I decided the Petricola were starting to get abit big for the 10 gallon, although some are still runts at around 1.5". I have 20 of these little fellers in with my Sci. Fryeri, Cop. Undu, and Oto. Lithobates Zimbwe now.

These guys are very intersting to watch, they seem to like to congregate to two or three cave locations. When its feeding time they swarm like ants, very fun to watch.

Does this skinny elongated one look like a male to you guys? I still haven't gotten distinguising males from females down yet.

They love these caves I got from Wal-mart, they have multiple holes around the top which they like to dive in and out of. 8)

I love your Synos! How did you end up with so many? Are you breeding them? or did you get a good deal?

Nice batch of fish!I would guess with that many you'll be opening up a catfish farm before long!I don't know about the petricola but if they are like the multipunctatus the females will be the plump fat one's where the males are kinda long and bony.Even with that bit of info to go by it's still hard to tell.

I got 6 F1's of them for $7 each, 12 for $6 each, and I got 8 in a trade. I sold 6 to my brother though, so I have 20 left to try and get a breeding group out of. Not real cheap, but cheap for Petricola.

Yep, good deal for Petricola...I still can't believe I paid $8 for my S.decorus...he was at least 4inches when I got him!...Where ya at geographically? If your around the midwest, I may have to hit you up for some synos when you get them breeding...

I'm in the Quad Cities, Davenport, Iowa. Right next to the Mississippi and Illinois border. I got most of mine from breeders in Chicagoland. I'm not sure how successful I will be with breeding them, but I hope to give it a shot.

:) Yea we just got a newer club started here in Iowa, but its still a bit of a drive from the east side of Iowa to the middle (Des Moines). You never know, you could have some awesome breeders 10 mins away! Turns out I did. :jaw:
