Hi all, I'm new to this group.....I have a question about Id'ing a fish.
It looks like a yellow lab but is blue with black on it's top and bottom fins....no stripes or any other coloration, I was told it could be a type of experatus or something like this.....any clues as to what it may be??

There are a couple species of Labidochromis that are blue and black. Hard to tell without a picture though.

Check out this site and look under L for Labs: http://www.mediamarketing.de/cichlid/en/index.htm

hi kathy--labs of all types are generally considered to be 'mild'(remember that is a relative term!), but individual fish can exhibit different behaviors. re: your blue lab--do you have a female as well? if so, can you describe her? i have similar fish, and i have recently learned that they are indeed exasperatus. the females are just as attractive as the males, but not blue. they are kind of a pearly gray with iridescent flecks and orange/peach anal and pectoral fins.
